  • I'm Underage, You're Underage, LET'S PARTY AND GET WASTED.

As of now, a 'party' isn't considered 'party' if it doesn't have alcohol. That's what most high schoolers will tell you. And I honestly think underage drinking is completely overrated. I am NOT going to sit here, be a hypocrite and say that I've never drank underage before. I've actually even taken a role in that complete part of the whole underage drinking/partying thing, and afterwards, it made me realized that all of it wasn't even worth it.

I really don't get it. Okay, if you drink and party while you're underage, don't act like you know everything about it. If you're 16 and you think you're the shit downing drinks, you're not. You're just being a complete idiot. I don't understand it either when people blame their parents or their families for their drinking problems. Most of my Dad's side of the family were alcoholics, and my grandpa and Dad died from liver cancer. I lived with a shitload of beer cans all over my entire house, and did I turn out to be an excessive underage drinker? No. You're only influenced by yourself and how you view things. Same goes for smoking. I recently read a web blog that was featured, a girl's reasons for why she won't stop smoking. It's her life, her lungs, not mine. But still. Sorry that was completely out-of-subject. Last year, a bunch of kids from my grade showed up at my high school's winter formal dance shitfaced. If you're going to be wasted off your ass, don't be sloppy about it.

That's another thing. 'Sloppy' underage high school drunks. Boys and girls, mostly girls: HAVE SOME RESPECT FOR YOURSELF. These people haven't even had more than two drinks with more than 5% of alcohol in it, and they're walking around, acting all drunk, and the next day, they 'can't remember a damn thing' because they were just so shitfaced. PLEASE. You're only embarassing yourselves.

Now, I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with the people out there that are or over the legal age to drink. Drink all you want, do whatever you want. Once I hit the age of 21, I'll definitely be barfing around a bar. I'm kidding. There's nothing wrong with like, ending work and going to Happy Hour. Or anything like that. I just don't understand why underage people make the biggest deals out of alcohol like it's the best thing ever. It's not.

Back when my older brothers were in high school, kids could go to a party and play Pictionary, Twister, 7 Minutes in Heaven, all that old school games WITHOUT alcohol. And yeah, I actually know because those people use to gather at my house. It saddens me that the teenage society nowadays can't even have 'fun' without alcohol. And I absolutely hate it too when they say that. How did you have fun when you were younger then? Because most of you didn't even start drinking until high school. Underage drinking just leads to a loss of respect and dignity.

What do you guys think about underage drinking?

  • My Last Day of Summer.

This is super duper sad. Seriously, Summer '09… you were the best out of the best. Remember all those little poems and stories you would hear about how people would have the best summers, just chillin’ with friends, beachin’ it, kickin’ it with the guys? Yeah, that was pretty much like my summer, and so many things changed. I learned so many new things and met so many new and different people, and I actually found my real friends. I actually.. kind of grew up this summer.

Junior year’s about to start and I feel so old already. The time period from the end of elementary school until now, went by so quick... and yet, back then, it took forever to reach this age. Being 16, was just suppose to be the ‘coolest’ thing ever… being able to drive, having a boyfriend, having the coolest job. Now, at 16… it feels the exact same, although some things did change, obviously. Basically, I only have two more years left to enjoy this… teenage/carefree life until college. Then after that, everybody's going to be separated and part their different ways. I've got friends who want to be criminal justice lawyers, physical therapists, music producers, players for the NBA. We all grow up so fast and don't even realize it. Oh lordy, it’s really sad. I just hope this year and my senior year will be… I don’t know, a little more memorable than the past years.

  • What We ALL Love About Radio Stations

I know almost everybody here listens to music while they're driving. Who doesn't? Not listening to music while driving will drive me nuts. Silence is just too loud.

So here we all are, driving down the road, listening to our favorite station. Of course, the DJ then announces, '....have YOU heard this hot new song? Check it out and call in to tell us if it's hot or not!'...

Damn, not only have you heard this song, but it was definitely one of your favorite songs... maybe what? Three MONTHS ago? This is exactly why I make my own mixes for the car, or just hook my iPod up to it. Actually, to be honest, there are some radio stations that aren't so bad... so we all actually do have hope if we don't have iPods or the time to mix CDs. For example, like DC 101.1. In case you've never heard of it, it's the best rock station out there. From Nirvana to the Offspring to Linkin Park, DC 101.1 doesn't ever disappoint me... unlike HOT 99.5. Get this straight, that station played 'Who Knew' by Pink about ten times in an hour, a year after it came out. Just yesterday, I was in the car driving home from the beach when I randomly turned to 99.5 to check out what's playing. The 'newest' song by the Fray, aka 'Never Say Never' was being played, 'first heard' on this station. Yes, oh yes. Such a new song, and that song's about to get ruined.

I don't mind when songs by my favorite bands or whatever are being played on the stations, but the thing that kills me is that... after you've known the song for a year or two and it was one of your favorites, EVERYBODY is loving it now because they know it, and of course.. everybody's getting it for a ringtone, everybody's putting the song on their myspace pages, whoopdeedoo! Of course, I know everybody has that feeling inside where you know there's that ONE song that 'belongs' to you, and maybe it was the soundtrack of your summer or something. Obviously, it's a selfish feeling, and even though some people are like, 'Well, it might not be new to you but it's new to them..' FUCK THAT. Yes, I've actually had somebody say that to me. But what makes me laugh is that, the same thing happens to them. And then they complain. Talk about being a hypocrite, right?

I don't mind being selfish. Music is pretty much the biggest deal to me, and I can't help but make the biggest deal out of this. Unfortunately, some people can't have better taste in music sometimes and I wish they would listen to the real deal instead of some shit that's playing on some radio station that claims to have all these new songs a decade after they've released it.
